->  우리가 배울 수 있는 것 만큼이나 / 화석을 조사함으로써 / 그것은 중요하다 / 기억하는 것은 / 그들(화석)은 좀처럼 완전한 이야기를 말하는 것은 아니라는 것을(기억하는 것)

-> As much as ~만큼 많이 

-> 가주어 it ~ / 진주어 to remember~ 

-> seldom : 좀처럼 ~하지 않다(부정어)

   highly : 상당히, 고도로(부사)

-> little : 거의 ~없음

-> captures : 담는다

-> captures little : 담는 것이 거의 없다 -> 내용물이 거의 없다는 의미군요?

-> 여기서의 at all 은 '아예' 라는 강조어로 쓰였습니다.

아, 거의 갖고 있지 않다 이렇게 해석하는 거죠.

-> while : ~하는 동안 / ~인 반면에 / ~이지만(부사절 접속사)

-> need to V : ~해야 한다 (~할 필요가 있다 - X)

-> 아, 그러니까 화석 얘기 하고 있었죠? 화석은 우리가 분명히 기억하는 과거의 그림 혹은 간직하고 있는 사진처럼 분명히 실재할 수도 있지만, 우리가 사진을 찍지 않아 실재하지 않는 것처럼 화석이 존재하지 않는 경우도 있다 라는 의미입니다.
