-> 1996년 (back 은 '~로 거슬러가보면' 이런 의미로 보시면 됩니다) / 한 미국 항공사가 직면했다 / 흥미로운 문제에

분석하기

-> ~시기에 / 대부분의 다른 항공사들이 손해를 보거나 / 파산하고 있던 시기에

-> when 은 관계 부사죠? 관계 부사는 해석하지 않고 when ~ under 까지를 관계부사절이라고 하죠? 관계부사절=형용사절 , 즉 앞의 명사 time 을 꾸며줍니다. 그래서 ~가 ~하는 때, 시기 이렇게 해석을 합니다.

-> 100개가 넘는 시들이 부탁하고 있었다 / 그 회사에게 / 자신들의 지역에 취항해달라고

-> beg A to V : A에게 ~해달라고 부탁하다

-> is that -> be 동사 뒤에 오는 that 은 명사절 접속사 입니다.

-> 접속사 뒤에는 완전문, 완전문은 주어 동사 ~ 로 시작됩니다. 그리고 이 명사절 접속사 that 은 ~것 이라고 해석합니다. 

-> that the company turned down over 95 percent of those offers

 그 회사가 그들의 제안의 95퍼센트를 거절했다는 것

-> 그것은 엄청난 성장을 거절했다 / 왜냐하면 회사 수뇌부는 (이미)설정해놨기 때문이다 / 성장을 위한 상한치를 

-> had set (had p.p.) 는 과거 완료죠? 과거 완료는 보통 '과거의 행위(turned)보다 더 이전의 행위를 나타낼 때 사용하죠?

제안을 거절하기 이전에 이미 목표치는 설정 되어있던 상황!

-> 이미 '~까지만 성장할거야' 라는 걸 정해놨으니, 성장하는 데 이미 한계가 있었군요?

-> 다른 유명한 회사들과는 달리 / 그들은 자신만의 속도를 정하기를 원했다 / 장기적으로 지속될 수 있는 (속도)

-> one = pace 를 뜻하는 동격입니다.

다른 유명한 회사들과는 달리, 그들은 장기간 지속될 수 있는 것, 즉 자신만의 속도를 정하기를 원했다.

-> help + 목적어 + V / to V : 목적어가 ~하는 것을 돕다

-> time when : 역시 시간명사 time + when 이 왔으므로 이 when 은 관계 부사입니다.

-> the other + 복수명사 : 나머지 ~들 -> 이 글에서는 이 항공사를 제외한 나머지 항공사들 을 뜻합니다.
